Tepoztlán lies a short distance to the east of Cuernavaca. It may have had the same time span of occupancy as that of Xochicalco and Teopanzolco
(Cuernavaca).
Here is where Topiltzin- Quetzalcóatl, the great Toltec leader was raised. A small pyramid "The Tepozteco" sits on the top of a steep mountain. It takes about an hour to walk to the top, but it
is well worth it. This place definitely brings a spiritual feeling to you as you look down into the valley, far below.
Don't miss the Restaurant "Los Colorines" going down from the Tepozteco.
Ruins of a temple dating from the late 1400s are located north of town, atop a majestic mountain, 1,200 feet above the valley.
