Mexico
trades products such as machinery, textiles, leather goods, chemicals and metals with many other countries, especially the USA, Spain, Germany, the UK, France and Japan. Mexico´s economy has become more "open" to foreign investors and a true free-market economy.
It is hoped that this will improve the standard of living for many Mexicans and make the economy stronger. Mexico is part of a special trade agreement with the United States and
Canada called the NAFTA. This stands for North American Free Trade Agreement. All three countries agreed to lower their tariffs (taxes) on goods exported to each other, so that trading between them has improved. Mexico also has similar trade agreements with some countries in Latin America like Colombia, Venezuela, Chile, Bolivia and Costa Rica.
